Robert Roman Norman signs on as cover artist

“You can’t judge a book by its cover,” as the saying goes, but the cover ain’t applesauce, either. As the one and only chance to make a good first impression, designing the cover is one of the most important aspects of publishing a book.

That’s why I’m working with local artist Robert Roman Norman to create original artwork for mine.

One of Eureka Springs’ most versatile artists, Bob has done exceptional work with everything from ink and watercolor, to event posters, to wood furniture found at both lake cabins and Milan fashion runways.

He was named Eureka Springs’ Artist of the Year in 2013, largely for his futuristic public sculpture piece Sphere.

But his poster work and vivid, bolder-than-life paintings are what made me think he’s perfect for designing this book cover. I can’t wait to show it to you when it’s done.

“I’ve been waiting for a book like this to be written about Eureka Springs for decades,” Bob told me. “I’m really excited to be the one to illustrate some of our more unique citizens for the cover. So the challenge is going to be trying to decide who exactly I’ll be sketching up for the front cover.”
